Welcome! I'm Mel, a passionate advocate for the transformative power of horses and a Certified Equine Assisted Learning practitioner specializing in equine therapy and nature-based experiences.
My journey with horses began in 2017, and it has been a remarkable love affair ever since. Growing up, I had the opportunity to work with various animals, but horses were not part of that. However, everything changed when I met Candy, a rescue horse finding her feet, just like me. It was a turning point in my life. Shortly after, I met Pippyn, a captivating grey Arab with a bucketload of sassy attititude. Little did I know that our connection would turn into an extraordinary bond and a lifelong love affair.
Pippyn became my teacher, guiding me on a profound path of self-discovery, learning, and love. In the process, he taught me invaluable lessons: trust, patience, love, kindness, forgiveness, respect, understanding, and above all, the absence of judgement. Through these equine experiences, my fear of horses transformed into deep admiration and reverence for their majestic nature.
After years of personal growth, deep diving into my life and not so great experiences, I discovered the Equine Psychotherapy Institute model of Equine Assisted Learning. It became crystal clear that this was my calling in life - to combine my love for horses with my passion for helping others through equine therapy and nature-based experiences.
As a fully certified Equine Assisted Learning Practitioner through the EPI, I have acquired comprehensive training in working with this model, including additional training working with young people with Autism and ADHD, utilising the power of horses to facilitate healing and growth. My approach is rooted in nature-based experiences, harnessing the connection between humans, the natural world and horses to enhance the therapeutic experience.
In addition to the equine therapy, I bring a wealth of personal experience in mental health drawing from my own journey of overcoming and living with mental ill health. Furthermore, I'm an Advanced Lived Experience (Peer) Worker, Certified Crystal Sound Therapist, Certified Qi Gong Instructor and Rhythm2Recovery facilitator, incorporating mindfulness practices into my holistic approach to nature-based therapy.
I along with my remarkable herd, am genuinely excited about joining you on your transformative journey. Together, we can explore new horizons, overcome challenges, and embrace the healing power of both horses and nature.
